CCI RegistryRS
Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) Registry

The introduction of CMS PQRS reporting, a new system for ensuring health care compliance and improvement grounded in evidence-based guidelines is upon us. The flexible NetHealth CCI RegistryRS is a CMS-approved means for simplifying physician reporting under PQRS. Used to support the NetHealth 1stAscent PQRS Registry this platform may be integrated into any PI project to provide maximum benefit to users.

What is the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS)?

The Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) is the continuation of the Center for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) PQRI program initiated in 2007. Offering an incentive reimbursement of 2 percent in 2007-2010, 1 percent in 2011 and .5 percent in 2012 calculated on all annual Medicare claims), the program requires the submission of de-identified patient data on specified quality measures.

In the establishment stage since 2007, the incentive premium has been available to all 'eligible professionals’ reporting, regardless of demonstrated improvement. In 2011, reporting 0 percent on any measure disqualified participants from obtaining the incentive.

It is well established that registry reporting not only delivers up-to-date, evidence-based guidelines (removing much of the difficulty of chasing constantly evolving treatment methods and best practice). It does indeed have the potential to improve medical practice, raising the bar on quality health care to the betterment of patient care.
